How can I find an accommodation?

A

In TATERU bnb you can find accommodations on the Find a Accommodation page. You can access the page by clicking on the magnifying glass icon at the top of the Home page. You can narrow down the search results by freely configuring the search conditions using Advanced Search on Accommodation List.

Q

Are there any accommodations where free-of-charge Wi-Fi is available?

A

Some provide Wi-Fi service. You can find them by selecting Wireless Internet in the Amenities/ Facilities section of the Advanced Search on Accommodation List page.
Please make an inquiry with the accommodation provider as to whether it is free of charge.

I would like to have detailed information on the room. What should I do?

A

Please inquire from "Inquiry about this Accommodation" on the Accommodation details screen.

Am I allowed to stay with my baby?

A

Some Minpaku do not accept family stays due to the convenience of the facility and host.
Accommodations with no indication of House Rules or For Families/ Children Allowed on the accommodation page might not accept family stays. If you would like to stay with children, please contact the host using the query form.

What amenities do rooms provide?

A

It varies depending on the accommodation but all provide the facilities to meet the general needs of travelers.
TATERU bnb provides various types of accommodations and the amenities provided in each all depend on the hosts.
Some hosts may not provide some items such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, and tooth brush. Please inquire from "Inquiry about this Accommodation" on the Accommodation details screen in advance.

Where can I find accommodation availability?

A

You can check accommodation availability information reflected on the TATERU bnb website via Duration of each accommodation page.
Please note that the information on the accommodation schedule calendar is not necessarily accurate due to the delay in reflecting updates from reservations made on other websites or other reasons.

Full accommodation address is not indicated on the website. Do you provide it?

A

To protect the privacy of Minpaku providers, we do not provide the full address before a reservation.
Once a reservation application is made, the full address will be indicated on the Accommodation details screen.

Will you provide me the telephone number of the host?

A

What services does TATERU bnb provide?

A

TATERU bnb is a holiday accommodation rental platform where you can, via your smartphone or computer, post your rental Accommodation or find and book lawful accommodations such as Minpaku (renting private homes/ rooms) approved by local government.
You can find a wide range of accommodations from commercial accommodations such as hotels and Ryokans (inns) to private residences, apartments, room sharing at old folk houses, and other unique accommodations.
On TATERU bnb, various hosts are waiting for your reservation and prepare the accommodations with value and love.
Occasionally you might be able to go sightseeing around where you stay with your host and have rare experience that only local people can experience.
Enjoy reasonable and relaxing travel in Japan.

How many languages do you support?

We currently support two languages; Japanese and English.
However, we will be supporting more languages in a phased manner.

Do you properly handle personal information?

TATERU bnb operates the website complying with the privacy policy of iVacation Co., Ltd.
TATERU bnb does not disclose users' personal information without their consent for purposes other than the Purpose of Use, except to the TATERU bnb operating company iVacation and its partner companies which have signed a nondisclosure agreement with iVacation. Considering the importance of personal information, TATERU bnb complies with laws and regulations regarding the protection of personal information, guidelines that the government makes, and other rules, and promotes personal information protection.
TATERU bnb protects personal information (security) in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Policy, ensuring that our members' registered information will not be compromised by any leak.
It also monitors the website's operation by using a firewall to block unauthorized access.

Can I access TATERU bnb via smartphone?

You can access and use the TATERU bnb service using a smartphone or tablet.

Screen transition is too slow. Do you recommend any particular environments?

A

Please check the recommended OS and browser environments.

Given that currently, more varied combinations of OS and browsers are used, TATERU bnb recommends particular environments. Should you have any problems in the operation, for example, the system does not respond even when a button is pressed, check the operating environment.

Is it free to register as a TATERU bnb member.

A

Yes, membership registration is free.
There is no charge for membership registration. Please rest assured when using the service.

Q

What are "Sign in with Facebook"and "Sign in with Google"?

A

They are functions that allow you to sign in to TATERU bnb using authentication information of other services (Facebook and Google); they use Facebook and Google authentication information. Once you register yourself as a TATERU bnb member using "Register through Facebook" or "Register through Google" button, you can sign in to TATERU bnb by just clicking the button.
Please note that other users and hosts are unable to view the Facebook and Google information of the visitors who use this function through TATERU bnb services.

What can I do if I register as a member?

A

To make a reservation for an accommodation, you must be registered as a member.
By registering yourself, you can make reservation , inquiries for detailed information via telephone and email, stay accommodations, and upload reviews (previous stay at an accommodation required). Also, to post your rental Accommodation, membership registration is needed.

Will the registered email address be visible on the website?

A

E-mail address will not be published except for host of reserved facility. Please use with confidence.

Q

Will the registered date of birth and name be visible on the website?

A

If you haven't registered your nickname, your first name will appear when you write a review, although rest assured your date of birth will not.
If you don't register your nickname, your first name will appear as the reviewer of your review. If you don’t want this to happen, be sure to register your nickname. Also, when you make a reservation, your first and last name will be disclosed to the host, but your date of birth will not.

I don't seem to have received a confirmation email at the membership registration. What should I do?

A

Check whether your registered email address is correct. Even if it's correct, it might take some time for the email to arrive. Please wait for a while. Also, please check other email folders just in case.

Do Japanese people also have to submit their passport information?

A

No, Japanese customers are not required to submit it. However, in "accommodation Business for Foreigners" foreign customers are obligated to present their passport for their identification.

Does the profile photo need to be a photo of my face?

A

In this service we recommend that you upload a photo of your face because displaying a frontal face photo helps you gain higher credibility.

What do I need for identification?

A

In principle, foreigners can use their passport and Japanese can use their passport, driver's license, or health insurance card for their identification.

What do I need to make a reservation?

A

You will be required to have a credit card for payment.
Only credit card payments are accepted on this website. Please prepare one.
Also, some accommodations may ask you to present your ID for identification.

Can foreigners make a reservation?

A

Yes, they can.
Reservation at TATERU bnb is available for anyone who registers themselves as a member. Those whose nationality is not Japanese and who do not have a residential address in Japan will be required to have their passport at the registration and when staying at an accommodation.

Can I make a reservation by phone?

A

No, you can't. Phone reservation is not accepted.
Reservations with TATERU bnb can be made through the website only.
Please register yourself first and make a reservation on the page of the accommodation you would like to stay in by following the reservation procedures.

About payment and cancellation

Q

When and how can I make payment?

A

Payment will be made by credit card when your reservation has been accepted. If your reservation request is rejected or expired, payment will not be made.

Q

What payment methods do you accept?

A

Currently, we only support credit card payments through VISA, MasterCard. We do not accept payment in installments, only payments in lump-sum.

What should I do to cancel my reservation?

A

If you are a traveler, you can cancel your reservation on List of My Reservation page. A cancellation can be made by a traveler even after their having completed the reservation.

When is a cancellation fee applied?

A

No cancellation fee is applied to cancellations made up until 8 days before check-in date.
Details of the cancellation fees occurring after 7 days before check-in date vary depending on the Accommodation. Please check the Accommodation Description page.

If I reserve a Accommodation charging "1,500 yen per person night for 10 people" for 6 people, how much will it be per night?

A

On TATERU bnb, provided accommodation fees per person per night are the amount dividing the room fee per night by the maximum number of occupants permitted.
In your case, the room fee per night of the Accommodation charging "1,500 yen per person night for 10 people" is 15,000 yen (1,500 yen per person per night x 10 people). If you reserve this Accommodation for 6 people, the room fee per night is still 15,000 yen (excluding commission fees).
* Some properties charge additional fees if your group exceeds the maximum number of occupants.

Q

If I reserve a Accommodation for 5 people for 2 nights which is supposed to charge 8,000 yen per night and additional 2,000 yen per person once exceeding 2 people, how much will it be per night?

A

Suppose it says "2,000 yen/ per night when exceeding two people" in the Additional Fee per Person section for a Accommodation. In this case, the fixed room charge (8,000 yen) is applied for a group up to 2 people but additional 2,000 yen per person will be applied once your group exceeds 2 people.
If you have 5 people in your group, it means you have additional 3 people and additional 6,000 yen (2,000 yen x 3) occurs, which gives accommodation fees of 14,000 yen (8,000 + 6,000 yen) per night in total. If you stay 2 nights, it gives 28,000 yen (14,000 yen x 2) (excluding commission fees).

Do I have to pay the host other than the amount I paid through the website?

A

No, you don't. Normally no payment should be made.
Payment of accommodation fees has been completed by credit card using an account settlement agent service. No accommodation fees should be charged by hosts. However, if you use optional services, you may be required to pay at the site other than the accommodation fee.

Can I change the check-in/-out time?

A

To change times, contact the host.
Check-in/-out times are as you see on the Accommodation details page. If you would like to change them after making a reservation, contact the host for approval.

If I check out prior to the scheduled date, will a cancellation fee be incurred?

A

Yes, it will. If you leave the accommodation earlier than the scheduled date, it will be considered that the reservation for the rest of the days was cancelled.
Although no additional cancellation fee will occur on the top of the previously paid accommodation fee, some refund can be made to you depending on the conditions of renting the Accommodation and lodging. Please make an application for refund first through the Inquiry page.
Please note that for properties in National Strategic Special Zones you are obligated to stay at least 6 nights depending on the area. Even if you are forced to check out of the Accommodation after staying less than 6 nights due to an emergency situation such as sudden illness, you still have to pay for the accommodation fee for the minimum number of nights required.

When will the accommodation fee be debited from my account?

A

Please contact your credit card company for the withdrawal day. We are unable to provide you accurate information.

Q

What is a security code?

A

The security code is a 3- or 4-digit number printed on the back or front of credit card.
You can reduce the risk of unauthorized use by entering the credit card number as well as the security code upon credit card payment.
Since the security code is not magnetic information on credit card, you don't have to worry about it being illegally scanned.
Also, it will not appear on the credit card sales slip or statement.

How can I get a refund for the cancellation of an approved reservation?

A

It will be refunded to your credit card according to the cancellation policy defined for each Accommodation. Please contact your credit card company for the withdrawal date because we are unable to provide you accurate information.

How should I get to the accommodation?

A

Please check with the host for more information or inquire from "Inquiry about this Accommodation" on the Accommodation details screen.

Can I stay at the accommodation even if I am not the one who made the reservation?

A

No, you can't.
The registered membership information of the person who made a booking must be identical with that of the one who will be staying. However people accompanied by them do not have to register themselves separately as members.

Can I bring my pet with me?

A

Some accommodations allow you to bring pets along.
As it depends on the accommodation, please check the House Rules section on the accommodation page.
Also, you can search for accommodations allowing pets by setting Pets allowed on Advanced Search on Accommodation List.

What is the check-in procedure for Minpaku?

A

Check-in is a procedure for lodging.
To be more precise it is a process to confirm the names, genders, and nationalities with their passports based on the previously registered names of the persons who are staying (guest list). *Check-in procedure is a process requested by Japanese law. We appreciate you for cooperating.

How can I find the procedure for check-in?

When your reservation has been confirmed, you will be in touch with the host. Please wait for a while.
Check-in procedures vary depending on the accommodation. Please check a message that will be sent from the host after the completion of your reservation.
Should you not be in touch with him/her even a week before the scheduled lodging date, please contact him/her directly.

The number of guests increased. What can I do?

A

Inform the host that the number of guests has increased and request an approval.
If the number is still under the maximum number of occupants permitted, it is likely to be accepted. Contact the host.

I broke a thing that came with the room. Whom should I contact?

A

The first thing you have to do is to contact the host of the accommodation facility.
If you cannot reach him/her or resolve the issue, contact the customer service center of TATERU bnb, and someone will assist you in solving the problem.

Can I extend my stay?

A

If you would like to extend your stay, check the accommodation availability with the calendar on the accommodation page. If it is still available, you can extend your stay by requesting your reservation and getting approved by the host.

Can I reduce the number of days I stay after my reservation has been completed?

A

Please cancel your reservation once and reschedule your reservation.
Please note that the number of days you stay cannot lower the minimum number of nights required by each accommodation.
